​Each July, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra plays a series of outdoor POPS concerts at scenic venues such as Shelburne Farms and the Hildene Meadowlands. For this pair of posters for its opening weekend, CGD created an economical design that brings together two traditional motifs in an unexpected juxtaposition. The mixed fonts for “POPS” symbolize the musical diversity of the program while the checkered tablecloth evokes unmistakable associations of the picnic, a favorite tradition of the VSO’s summer audience. A simple change in color differentiates the two concerts.
