​Charles Gibson Design was initially commissioned to create a timeline mural that would tell the story of football at Dartmouth College from its earliest years to the present. Working closely with writer, Jack DeGange of Jade Communications, photos from the College’s archives were juxtaposed with text within specific time periods to chronicle the achievements of outstanding players, teams and coaches.

In response to an evolving consensus of the project team, CGD also designed a permanent exhibit for Dartmouth football memorabilia as well as an interactive video kiosk. Collectibles including letters, programs, footballs, helmets, jerseys and rings are sequenced in parallel with the timeline to augment the chronology. At the kiosk’s plasma display, alumni rediscover the glory of their Dartmouth years via an archive of team portraits.

CGD coordinated the proportions and materials palette of the timeline, exhibit cases and kiosk to ensure seamless integration with Dartmouth’s new varsity house.
