Project Description
The goal of the Global Health Council is “to improve health around the world“. They do this by increasing the effectiveness and impact of its member organizations through promotion of “The ABCs of Global Health: Advocating for global health, Building global alliances and Communicating experiences and best practices.”
Convinced that design should play a more significant role in its communication efforts, the Global Health Council asked CGD to create a new logo and renovate its print collateral. Working closely with the Council’s president, Nils Daulaire, CGD explored multiple directions for the new identity and developed a logo that embodies several levels of meaning. Two ribbons intertwine to create a human form while suggesting cooperation, sharing, and the reinforcement of individual efforts when joined together. At the same time, the ribbons form a double-helix, suggesting DNA and the increasingly important role that molecular biology and science will play in the future of human health. The “legs” of the logo also resemble the AIDS ribbon, while the blue sphere of the “head” represents the earth and thus the Council’s global scope. Finally, the logo’s human form is endowed with a joyful gesture that expresses the forward movement, physical liberation, and spiritual uplift made possible by good health.
Variations in the logo’s typography were developed to ensure its successful integration with all of the Client’s print formats.
