​With its new gateway shelter under construction, Waterville Valley Ski Area asked Charles Gibson Design to create a sign concept that would better manage the arrival and flow of visitors and vehicular traffic at the base of its ski area.

The basic sign type generates the illusion of a folded, festive banner. In reality, the sign panel is a continuous two-dimensional surface.

Other components in the program included: a main entry sign and traffic lane directional, color-coded parking area markers, freestanding Ski School and Rentals portals, a main visitor directional pylon, and secondary directionals for day care/visitor amenities and traffic control.
