​Photographic images are always useful in the art of visual communication, but they are only one of many image modes. “How” something is expressed is, in fact, an inseparable part of “what” is being expressed. The ragged edge of torn paper conveys emotions different from those of a cut or constructed edge. Infusing an image with specific connotations as it interacts with typographic messages can therefore enhance the design’s power to communicate.

For the redesign of this product catalog, CGD created an endlessly variable thematic motif that captures the dynamics of hand-stamped impressions. Instead of photographs, the Designer opted to express each of the company’s products with the economy and precision of hand-drawn vector illustrations.
