Cultural Resources Report for Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, New York
Project Description
OZ Architecture commissioned CGD to design, and coordinate production for, a 294-page report documenting the history and existing conditions of Fort Wadsworth, a continuously occupied 226 acre military site on Staten Island. Fort Tompkins and Battery Weed, the property’s two Civil War era fortifications, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The report, featuring extensive use of archival engravings, military diagrams, building plans, and historic, as well as current, photographic documentation, was designed to provide “cultural resource data” in support of the National Park Service’s proposed role as principal custodian of the site.
CGD collaborated closely with the architect to ensure seamless integration of the Client’s ongoing text revisions with the parallel evolution of each page’s layout.
