​Ellis Music Company serves the needs of student musicians in Vermont and New Hampshire for instruments, accessories, and school services. Following their move to a new headquarters, the company asked CGD to upgrade their graphic standards with a new logo, stationery, and signage. As part of this identity program, CGD was also asked to design a set of company-specific music folders for school ensembles.

Traditionally, music folders distributed to school bands and orchestras have featured standard-issue graphics and advertising for local businesses or instrument manufacturers. Ellis Music and CGD saw the opportunity to bring a new level of graphic excellence and sophistication to this ubiquitous accessory. Drawing upon early 20th century Futurist design principles, CGD created an energized and highly spacial composition of freely interpreted musical notation. The unique folders enhance both the visual identity of Ellis Music Company and the aesthetic experience of their musician customers.
