Designing for “The Hood”
Hood Museum of Art
Dartmouth College
Posters and Invitations
Project Description
To inaugurate the Hood’s lecture series, Charles Gibson created a template concept based on the architecture’s exterior post modern detailing. Traditional typography communicates the season’s lecture schedule while unique color palettes are assigned to the cornice-inspired frame.
The Dedication Poster and the inaugural Symposium Poster were recipients of the Award of Excellence from The Art Museum Association of America.
CGD was called upon to design posters and invitations for several of the museum’s early exhibitions including, Flowers from the Royal Gardens of Kew, Masterpieces of Chinese Art from the Yale University Art Gallery, Plains Indian Arts: Continuity and Change, and Ellsworth Kelly: A Print Retrospective.
